Movie Release

I am disgusted and saddened by the release of the movie Orphan, and since Tom Davis is a much better writer then myself please go here to read more. I agree fully with his post, and I am happy that adoptive parents aren't the only ones outraged by this movie.

My Little Swimmer

This past week Kaden started swimming lessons. This is a big deal for him because he is terrified of the water. He will freak out if water gets on his face in the bath tub, but recently he has gotten a little more brave so I thought it was time to learn. The morning of the lesson I told Kaden that he was going to got to his first swim lesson and he was so sweet, he looked at me and said, "Mommy, I don't think that is a very good idea." This made me a little worried about his lesson, but I assured him that I would be right there and that I wouldn't let anything happen to him. Grammie and Grampie came to his first lesson, so I think that gave him the extra boost of confidence that he needed. He did great, he was still pretty timid, but he did everything his teacher asked him to do.

Here he is before his lesson....

Here are a couple action shots.....

Here is my brave boy after the lesson, still smiling!

Birthday Fun

I was dreading my birthday this year, not because of my age but because my sweet husband was not going to be here to celebrate with me, but it has turned out to be a wonderful birthday. Kevin is the social planner for our family, so often I will make no effort to make plans knowing that he will plan something for my birthday, so this year it was all on me. Well, on Sunday, my actual birthday I spent the day with my mom and siblings. They cooked a delicious dinner for me and some yummy dessert. It was a fun night.

Last night I got together with some great friends and we went to a piano bar in town. It was so much fun to hang out, chat, eat, and sing. Last night made me realize that I need to make more of an effort to get out with the girls for fun nights like this. And a special thanks to Kevin's parents for staying up so late so that I could get out, Thanks!!
I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

4th and stuff..

This year we went to the beautiful mountains to celebrate the 4th. It is absolutely gorgeous in our mountains this year thanks to the crazy amount of rain we have gotten. It is the greenest I have ever seen it. We went to a little town called Avon for the most amazing firework display, and then we went to Vail the next day for a parade. The parade was pretty small, but they threw candy to the kids so the boys were happy. We then rode the gondola to the top of Vail mountain and had lunch, it was so fun. I realize it has almost been a month since I last updated, but we have a lot going on right now. Kevin is getting a new job and we are moving to Denver soon. We still don't know exactly when we are moving to Denver, but I think we are renting our place the beginning of August, so I am busy getting the house ready and packed. We are really excited about this move and we don't think it will interfere with our adoption in any way. We do need to be in Denver within three months so that we can update our homestudy, and I am sure we will have some paperwork to redo, but our social worker said it won't hold up a referral, so that is good news. So for now I am cleaning, painting, packing and trying to figure out where we are going to live in a few weeks, and all of this is happening while Kevin is on a ten day trip with the youth, his last trip with this job.

So, to sum everything up we are busy, busy AND we are hoping to get a referral soon. Come on referrals!
