Our Vacation

We had such a great time on our vacation. It was so nice to get away and have some really good family time. We started our vacation with a 12 hour drive to Phoenix, with two small children. It actually went really well, the boys did great thanks to the portable DVD player. So after hours of driving we arrived in Phoenix and decided that we would let the kids play at the hotel pool for a little while so they could wear themselves out and hopefully sleep really well. Well, we went down to the pool and took the boys shoes off and they both immediately fell on the slick tile floor surrounding the pool. Oliver seemed okay, he hit his head but really wasn't that phased. Kaden on the other hand hit the floor so hard he split his lip open. We immediately took him back to our room and called the manager and the hotel offered to take him to the ER, but we had already called our pediatrician and he assured us that he would be okay and told us that mouths heal so quickly that it would probably be fully healed in a couple of days. So instead of taking him to the ER we gave him some children's Tylenol and iced it, and now it is completely healed. Here is our poor little man and his fat lip.
We got to San Diego on Saturday and just hung out and relaxed, we were pretty tired from all the driving. It's amazing how tired just sitting in a car can make a person. The next day we hit the beach. We went to the beach on Coronado (where Kevin and I got engaged) because it is a great beach for kids, soft sand and small waves. The boys had a blast. Oliver was of course fearless and would just run into the water. Kaden was a little more cautious. He was sure that the fish were going to eat him. Here is one of our self-family portraits that Kevin loves to take. Here is our family at Sea World the next day waiting for the Shamu show. We loved Sea World, it was so much fun.The boys watching the Polar Bears at Sea World. Our great friends the Cleveland's vacationed with us in San Diego. It was so great to have them there, it made our trip even more fun. Here is Kaden meeting up with his best buddy Grant.Day 2 at the beach. We took the Cleveland's back to Coronado so their boys could play in the ocean. It was so fun to go back with them. We brought a boogie-board with us so that gave us more to do and there were more adults to watch the kids so the adults could play too. This is just a cute pic of Oliver when we went to Ocean Beach for dinner and to see the sunset.
Grant, Carter, and Kaden at the hippo exhibit at the San Diego zoo.
Kevin and I at Mission Beach. We went to this really delicious place called Kono's for breakfast and then we came and walked on the pier. I had to add a picture of just the two of us since we celebrated our 8th anniversary on July 29th.
Here is our family at the Wild Animal Park.
After we left San Diego we went to Santa Monica to visit our friends Chad and Emily. Kevin and Chad grew up together and Chad was the best man in our wedding. We really wanted to be able to see them and meet their new baby, James. It was great to spend some time with them and see where they are living and working and to meet their little man. They are such a cute family. We left on Sunday morning and drove 17 hours home, so we got home Monday morning at 1ish. We had such a great time, but it is always nice to be home and to sleep in our own bed.

We are home...

and our dossier is off. I made all of the necessary copies and have sent our dossier to our social worker to look it over, so hopefully everything looks good and will continue to move along. If everything looks good to our social worker she will send it to our agency headquarters so that they can look it over and then they will forward it to D.C. We had a great vacation, I will blog more about that later..... off to do laundry and go grocery shopping.

We're off...

We are leaving tomorrow morning at the crack of dawn for Cali and I was really hoping that all of our state sealed documents would get here today so that I could send our dossier off, but no such luck...bummer. It will probably get here tomorrow and just sit here for ten days, that's annoying. Oh well, I know that God is in control of this and this is just another lesson in how I am not in control.

So after my pity party we left and went to Chick-Fil-A to celebrate this little guys birthday(below). He is pretty sweet and we love him dearly. Here is sweet Truman with his cake. Look at those eyes!Kevin and I were so excited when we found out our friends the Bottomly's were coming to town- until we found out they were getting here the day before we leave for our trip. Last time we tried to see them was when we went to OK to visit family and the day we arrived they left for California, so at least this time we were able to see them one night. Maybe next time we will be able to see them twice, that would be awesome. Here is my hubbie, our friend Jonathan, and Josh. They all went to high school together so it is fun to see them all together.

Here is Amy juggling Silas and Oliver, she is a pro!

And finally here I am with Amy. I always love the time I get to spend with Amy, I just wish we were able to see them more often. I guess I will just have to wait for them to move here and then I will see them all the time... right Amy?

And now we are off to go to bed and leave for a 12 hour drive to Phoenix with two small children and then finally to California. Sounds like fun huh?!?

Birthday and Dossier

I had such a fun 30th birthday. We got together with friends at MuShu's, a delicious Chinese restaurant that our friends own. We pretty much took over the place. There was only one table in the restaurant that we weren't using. It was so fun just to get together with friends, especially the ones that I don't get to see very often but love dearly. After dinner we went back to our house and had cake and did some more hanging out. It was the perfect low key birthday.
This is my beautiful friend Nichole. I just love spending time with her, she is one of those people that we can always pick up where we left off, even if it has been way too long since we have last seen each other.
Friends eating at MuShu's.

Mindy trying to hide so she didn't have to have her picture taken. You can't hide from us!
My handsome hubbie and our friend Eric. My delicious chocolate cake, Yummy.
Yesterday I got our I-171h notarized so that I could send it off to be state sealed. I overnighted it in hopes that it will be back by Thursday of this week because we are leaving on Friday for ten days. It is going to drive me crazy if we don't get it and we can't send our dossier off until we get back. Thinking about it just sitting here all ready to send and not being able to send it off is just going to kill me, but I know that ultimately it is all in God's hands and he is in control of those details. He knew the timing of all of this and he knows the child that he has for our family, so I just have to trust his timing.

The 4th and Showers

We had a fun 4th of July! We had some friends over for a cook out and we hung out with all of our kids. It was so fun to see all of the boys play. There were 6 boys and 1 sweet little girl, Kora, she is so cute. Here are half of the boys playing in our sandbox. It may be time to buy a bigger sandbox! Here are the girls hanging out.
The guys and Dave holding the lone little girl.
Today I helped throw my little sisters baby shower. She is due the beginning of August with her sweet little boy Hunter. We had a lot of fun getting together with friends and family to celebrate this little life. Hunter really wants to be born the week of July 28-31 (he told me today). We are going out of town in July for a week and then August 3-6 is a girls weekend in the mountains to hike a fourteener, so Hunter really wants to be born then because he really wants his Auntie to be there when he is born. Here is a picture of the food, I had to post this because my sisters worked so hard on these fruit bouquets. Aren't they so cute?
Here is a picture of my beautiful sister with her cute little "party pooper" onsie.
A special thanks to Deb for taking some really "cute" pictures with my camera!!!
